Globe in Motion
- What is the uniqueness of the project over others in the same field?
This project aims to develop skills for becoming confident world citizens and for the pupils to be aware of the differences and similarities in different countries around the world in regards to culture, attitudes and everyday life. By going through this project the attendees will develop a stronger sense of a world citizen identity. This project will allow for a chance to fight prejudice and promote respect and tolerance. To accomplish this project the pupils and teachers will need to cooperate intensively and contact each other on a regular basis and to learn more about the way of life in other countries. By staying in a host family, pupils and teachers will learn about customs and culture in a way they can't experience without an exchange. This project is unique because it will provide exposure to different cultures and environment to students at a young age with the companionship of a responsible mentor and or teacher. It is different than other current similar projects because it exposes the student to the outside world but with the guidance of someone so that they may grasp more than just the fun of being abroad. The students will actually be in a learning trip and develop the traits of a good world citizen at a young age.
- What need will the project fill?
It will fill the need of a world citizenship identity. We put the emphasis on preparing pupils of what it means to be a world citizen due to all the global information and exposure to other cultures outside their own. The international cooperation will improve the pupils’ foreign language and knowledge of different countries and cultures. By getting to know other global pupils and people and by working and communicating with them, they will have the opportunity to (learn to) live as open-minded and responsible world citizens. The project is needed because pupils need the knowledge and the experience in order to succeed in our modern mobile world.
- Is the project idea practical to be applied? Briefly explain on how the project will be run
The partner schools will plan all the projects and the realization together during the starting and planning conferences. The project plans are very structured, stating the aims, procedure, time frame, products, evaluation and who does what. Then the projects are carried out in each school. The host school is responsible for the running project at that time. The host school will organize the exchange week, prepare program and distribute it to the partner schools before the exchange week takes place. The host school is also responsible for the joint products. That means that the schools take turns in being responsible for the project and an exchange week, so the amount of work and involvement will be the same for each participating school. The involved teachers and pupils in the partner schools will keep in touch by eTwinning/Twinspace, e-mail, newsletter, Skype and social networks. The project is constructed in a way that requires each partner school to carry out the preparatory work; otherwise the final product won’t be possible to create. These joint products are produced collectively during the exchanges, where only teachers and pupils who are able to communicate in English can participate. Visiting teachers will be actively involved during the exchanges. That means taking part in the program and to be responsible for the pupils. The coordinating school is responsible for the joint documents being written, such as the progress report and the final report. The coordinating school is monitoring the partnership process.
-What are the exploitations materials (example: online resources, seminars, workshops, and etc.) to be used for the project?
A website will be design for this specific project where all the participants can share their experiences. There will be an option where archived documents on how to implement the project and it can be download it to serve as reference for the current participant carrying out the project. The website will also include live chat/feed news so that everyone can have up to date information about the ongoing process. It will also have the option of uploading videos which will be supervised by teachers. At the location where the project is carried out there will be seminars and workshops about the project.
